First Grade

St. Mary's First Graders are confident learners, full of wonder, curiosity and an eagerness to please. They understand the importance of being attentive in school, while still maintaining their desire to inquire. The reading process is in full swing, which allows First Grade students to see the world in a whole new way. They are writing on a regular basis and produce brief narratives and descriptions. First Grade mathematics emphasizes numeration, operations and computation, data and chance, geometry, measurement and reference frames, patterns, functions and algebra.
