Application Process
Step One: Visit St. Mary’s
Visit St. Mary's and see our beautiful six acre campus during a personal tour. During this appointment, your family will learn more about the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme and have the opportunity to tour classrooms and meet our faculty.

Step Two: Complete the Application
An application must be submitted for each prospective student and must be accompanied by a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a non-refundable $100 application fee.
Also required:
- Junior Kindergarten: progress report from Preschool
- Kindergarten: progress reports from Preschool/Junior Kindergarten
- Grade One through Two (1-2): report card and teacher recommendation from current grade
- Grades Three through Six (3-6): report card and teacher recommendation from current grade, and standardized test scores
- Grades Seven through Eight (7-8): report card from current and previous school year, standardized test scores from most recent school year and teacher recommendations specifically from the math and English teacher in the most recent school year
Completed applications submitted by February 1 will be considered in Round 1. Applications completed after February 1 (Round 2) will be considered in the order received, and admission will be offered as space allows.
Step Three: Assessment
Once a complete application is received, a representative from the Admission Office will be in touch to schedule a student assessment.
- 2-Year Old Preschoolers: a play date may be requested depending upon the child's birthdate in relation to the start of the school year. All 2-Year olds joining St. Mary's must turn two by September 1.
- 3-Year Old Preschoolers and Junior Kindergarten: a school readiness assessment will be arranged by the Head of Preschool to obtain a broad sampling of the child's skills and behavior, which is presented to the child as "playing games". 3-year olds must be potty trained by September 1.
- Kindergarten through Grade Four (K-4): a one-on-one meeting with a Lower School faculty member will be scheduled to assess grade level readiness.
- Grades Five through Eight (5-8): the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) must be taken. Registration information is provided below.
Register at www.iseetest.org for the ISEE exam. 2011-2012 test dates are:
- December 3, 2011
- January 21, 2012
- February 4, 2012
- March 3, 2012
- April 21, 2012
- May 5, 2012
- June 23, 2012
The pre-registration cost is $95. Walk-ins will be accepted with prior notification as space allows. The walk-in registration cost is $125. Payment may be made during online registration or by providing a check made payable to E.R.B. on the day of the test.
Step Four: Decision
Once applications are processed and assessments completed, candidate files are reviewed by the Admission Committee. Preschool Admission is granted starting on November 1 based upon the order in which applications are received starting November 1. Lower and Middle School decision letters for Round 1 (applications received by February 1) are mailed by March 1. Lower and Middle School Round 2 decision letters (for applications received after February 1) will be mailed as decisions are made based on space availability.
